Case Study: NHS Festival of Leadership
In today’s challenging times, the NHS staff require mental composure, focus and resilience to deliver the best quality care for their patients. A high impact training day was required to deliver the practical skills and to fit in with their hectic working schedule.
Sporting Edge was appointed to deliver the High Performance Series at the third Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Festival of Leadership to delegates from multiple NHS Health and Social Care organisations throughout the county, ranging from frontline clinical staff to administrators to strategic leaders. The High Performance Series was tailored to address CPFT’s specific challenges and included workshops on the following topics:
Mental Toughness and Resilience – for people expected to deliver results through change and uncertainty.
Coaching for High Performance – for leaders looking to learn the secrets of how the world’s best coaches communicate to deliver outstanding results.
High Performing Teams – by building trust faster, embracing conflict and creating an emotional competitive advantage.
Motivation and Engagement – through an understanding of intrinsic motivation and a tool kit for managers to maximise their team’s potential.
Sporting Edge consultants Michael Caulfield and David Young led the delegates through a day of self-awareness on how they coped with the pressures of working and leading through testing times.
Over 92% of the delegates attending the Mental Toughness workshop said they could take the meaningful and importantly useable tools and methods to help with mental toughness in the NHS.
Following the introduction of the Mental Toughness and Resilience workshop a further two workshops were booked to cater for the high demand within the CPFT.
Sporting Edge's Michael Caulfield speaking at the leadership event
"I came not expecting much, I found the course enjoyable and inspiring. Remembering the basics and getting the focus right to advise the outcome is something that easily gets forgotten about."
